For UW Partner success, we must ask – what are we willing to trade to attain the financial success we want?
In another UW ‘top team’ training session, National Network Leader, Wes Linden talks about the importance of defining what price we are personally willing to ‘pay’ (trade) for success as a UW Partner. He shares the importance of asking ourselves this question and being honest with our response. It all comes down to being willing to define what we are willing to trade (time) to attain our personal goals – financial or otherwise.
Give an honest answer & things can turn around quickly
We all have a question to ask ourselves at some point in our UW business and when we give ourselves an honest answer, that’s where things can turn around for us. And the question that we really need to ask ourselves is, “What am I willing to trade right now, to get the life and success that I want? Or am I willing to trade away the life I want, because I’m not prepared to invest sufficient time in my UW business?” There is no such thing as a free lunch. Success leaves clues, requires effort and for that – we must be willing to pay the price by trading some time now.
Now, what do I mean by that? All of us join Utility Warehouse with 24 hours in our day and we all manage to fill those hours. We may or may not fill them productively, but we all manage to fill them. And at some point, we then must look at what we have got in our week ahead. And what do we have in the week ahead? For many of us, we have a job, which is cool. We need the job to pay the mortgage and other things. So that is all good and as it needs to be. This job will likely take up 40 or so hours of our time each week. There may be some commuting involved in that and that is probably non-negotiable too. These things need to happen to keep the bills paid, food on the table and wolf from the door.
What are we willing to trade to achieve our goals?
There are going to be things like sleeping – that should be non-negotiable for most of us. We need to do at least a bit of it each day. Eating and looking after ourselves and feeding the children and looking after children, spending time with our family, and loved ones. So, all those things need to happen right now. And then we end up in a place where we still have some time left, and at some point, we have to decide what of that time we’re prepared to trade to achieve our respective goals and ambitions with the Utility Warehouse (UW) business.
What are we willing to trade to achieve our goals? Because at some point we need to decide, “Where am I going to give up some time right now, that otherwise I would be doing other things, so I can actually use some time for my UW business?” Because for people that want to earn a hundred pounds a month out of UW, they could probably do this without changing very much at all. If you are just focused on getting one QUIP (Daffy Gold) customer with CGB, that would probably come to a hundred pounds -and for this level of income, nothing really needs to change.
Be unimportant to the creation of your own income
But if you want to earn more than that, if you want to get a more significant UW monthly income, if you want to start to build a team and grow a team and support a team and have a team that starts to support you with a residual income, that makes you unimportant to the creation of your own income. For this to happen, there is going to have to be a point where we make a trade, where we decide what am I going to trade each week in order to find some time for my UW business, both now and ongoing – consistency is key and by consistently being willing to trade time, so every increasing numbers of UW Partners are achieving financial success with their UW business.
