Millions of people in the UK have a side hustle or second job to earn an extra income
Utility Warehouse (UW) have long chamioned the nation's entrepreneurial spirit
The way we work has changed. Millions of people across the UK are taking on a side hustle or second job to earn an extra income. Utility Warehouse believes that Multi-income individuals deserve more support, should receive more recognition, and need to be celebrated for their efforts.
There are already 20,020,869 people in the UK who earn a second income and can be clased as Muti-income individuals. They contribute more than £30 billion in secondary incomes to the UK economy. These are secondary incomes that support 364,700 people already in full-time employment.
Utility Warehouse (UW) have long chamioned the nation’s entrepreneurial spirit with their unique UW Partner model. They enable tens of thousands of people to earn an extra income in a flexible way that suits their lifestyle and goals.
Did you know that there are over 20 million people in the UK who earn a second income?
Did you know that there are 15 million more people earning a side income in 2023 than in 2017?
What is a Multi-income individual?
A Multi-income individual, or Mii for short, is anyone who has more than one income stream. People can earn a secondary income in a multitude of ways – from Airbnb hosts and bartenders to eBay sellers and film extras, as well as being a UW Partner with the Utility Warehouse.
Why did UW commission this report?
UW wanted to champion the multi-income space for everyone who earns an additional income; that’s why they commissioned the Miis report with leading economic consultancy and research firm, Cebr. Many UW Partners would be considered a Mii – self-starters who have seized the challenge of earning an extra income around their main job to enjoy greater financial freedom, pursue a passion or beat the cost-of-living crisis. By publicly championing Miis, UW hope their partners will have greater confidence to talk more freely about how they make a second income, and inspire others to join UW on a journey to get more out of life.
